Vista Linda is a subdivision located South of the central Plaza of Taos, about 7 miles from the downtown area. The University of New Mexico - Taos Branch is nearby, as well as the Taos Country Club. The University is expanding with new buildings currently near completion. The Country Club is a public 18 hole golf course, and many of the Vista Linda properties located on the western edge of the subdivision have views of the greens and fairways.
With an active neighborhood association, Vista Linda residents work to maintain and improve neighborhood roads, and keep abreast of current events of the area. The neighborhood association also works to enforce the covenants and restrictions. This is my home neighborhood, where I am active in the neighborhood association and write a newsletter once or twice a year.
The latest developments concerning Vista Linda include the defeat of a controversial proposed Justice Center a couple of miles down Hwy C-110 on a 40 acre site owned by Taos County. Improvements to the intersection of C-110 and State Hwy 68 are underway at present. Construction of a deceleration lane and widening of Hwy 68 will be completed this summer. Lighting for this intersection will not come for a couple more years, however the enlarging of the road will make this turn much easier to find on return trips from the South after dark.
